iC-R Post Campaign: Update 3(a)

Hi Backers!

We hope all are well, safe, and in good health along with your families and friends. We want to continue to reiterate the following important things each update, which are key to how ICH is able to execute on our path to delivery. With that:

  • Based on Kickstarter funding release, our current delivery scheduled shifted to November through December 2021.
  • What continues to also play a huge part in this shift is the massive chip and raw material shortages that continue to plague a number of industries/company’s like Automotive & Big Tech/Kia & Apple; just to name a few (Ref: ForbesWSJMAUThe WSPCNN; etc.). ICH has made good strides and we’ve been able to pivot to other more readily available solutions for MOST components to still get the job done; which is an even bigger testament to our team to not just accept what is. We made a commitment to get our helmets to market, and that’s what we’re going to do.

Now without further ado…

[General & What To Expect Next]

  • Our new partnership with Viaanix is still going strong. The Viaanix team has been hard at work the past few months. Lately the software team members have been implementing the different software components so that our companion app and our helmet can communicate even more fluidly with one another, the most recent being fine tuning our front and rear cameras simultaneous recording functionality; and controlling things like file transfer from the helmet to the app cloud. As far as the rest of the features go, we have the architecture for them designed and they’re actively being implemented. On the hardware front, the hardware team has finalized the different hardware components and the new carrier board design is well underway. Overall, we’re excited about the progress on the project and can’t wait to demonstrate more features as they are completed. More additional initial evidence of this can be found in the design section below.

Current Project Updates

Our helmet design has been reviewed by our helmet manufacturer, and they made a few final recommendations for changes that are also requirements to ensure certifications are met. Those changes have already begun being implemented and we are due to receive final sign-off in ~2-3 weeks. Once the final sign off has been received, then we’ll move to tooling and manufacturing of our initial beta units to submit for certifications; as well as testing. The certification process takes roughly 4-6 weeks to complete.

As promised in our last post, we do have some really cool updates regarding our visor:

  • We’ve consistently promoted our auto tinting photochromic visor, and while that’s mainly still the case; the technology behind it and how we implement has changed for the better. Traditional “transitional” tinting visors take time to do just that; transition from light to dark/tinted. We’re currently moving forward with a company who has a better technology which is a combination of: photochromic (as the visor tints based on the lighting conditions), electrochromic & automatic (as the very small HW components embedded at the top of the visor react to allow/create an instant tint vs a slow transition). Note that this improvement will not create any delay in current progress in getting to production and shipping. [See comparison videos below]

Again, we’ve stated the critical points regarding manufacturing and production above.

As a reminder and in addition to our last post & to offset the unexpected delays due to chip shortages and funding issuance from Kickstarter, we have introduced an Alpha testing phase that will begin prior to our beta testing phase; which is slated towards the end of October. Our plan for the Alpha testing phase is to allow our backers who are within riding distance (how far is completely up to you) of either our home base in Springfield Virginia, or our development team in Wichita Kansas to ride up or down and participate in this initial controlled environment testing phase. This will provide even earlier access to our helmets and our product development, but even more so to further show proof to our supporters that we are doing exactly what we said we’re going to do. You can now sign up to this Alpha testing phase using the following link:

(Note that the limit for this signup is 15 with 5 of this total number being alternates)

We will release additional information regarding our Beta testing phase and the helmets that we will ship out to other backers who are further away in the US, as well as much further away outside of the US.

We continue to remain diligent in our refinement and overall software cohesive development push, to get things completed as quickly and efficiently as possible. Further proof of this will come in the next 2-3 weeks as we look to release a “iC-R Post Campaign: Update 3(b)” before the next truly major update.

More SCAM websites have popped up since our last update that have copied all of our posted information and have posted our “product” for sale. As a reminder, these are fake websites of course and the only current sales channel for our product is via Indiegogo at the following link:

Thanks again for all your continued support. October will be a significant milestone for ICH and our initial Alpha testing phase, so stay tuned! As always please message us with any questions—we’re always here for you.
